On 5 December 2016 the Central Bank of Malta will issue a commemorative €2 coin under a new programme entitled “From Children in Solidarity”. The coin entitled ‘Solidarity Through Love’ depicts the winning design of a competition opened to all secondary school children in Malta. The coin reverse shows the common €2 side while the obverse (national side) shows a representation of the winning design created by Ms Sarah Cilia. The coins were engraved by Noel Galea Bason and were struck at the Monnaie De Paris.

The coins will be available in rolls and individually in specially-designed cards. The number of coins is limited to 350,000 pieces (14,000 rolls), whereas the number of cards will be limited to 30,000. The coins in the cards will bear the mint mark of the Monnaie De Paris.
